MINUTES SLEEPERS ISLAND ASSOCIATION SPRING MEETING SATURDAY, June 9, 2007

Call to Order
Prior to the meeting, representatives of the Alton Fire Department made a lengthy presentation about fire safety, answered questions and demonstrated equipment on the fire boat. At the same time, Gary Martin led a review of the SIA fire pump for those interested. This activity concluded with the members gathering inside Thoresen's yellow cottage to begin the meeting. President Sue Thoresen called the meeting to order at 5:18:47pm. Once again introductions and name tags were passed around to welcome all present, including new members Frank and Babs Glauner who last fall moved into the cottage on lot 71.

Attendees
To the best of the able scribe's ability to recognize those present, they were: Bob and Sue Thoresen, Paul Gibson, Marc Gibson, Pat and Dave Vincent, Marny Peabody, Barbara Tellinghuisen, Gary and Nadine Martin, Dave and Mary Englehardt, Mark Derderian, Frank and Babs Glauner, Fred and Marion Slater, Tom and Jean Barrett and Fred and Linda Zimmerman.

Secretary's/Treasury Report
The Secretary read a summary of the minutes, (simultaneously distributed to the members in long form,) after which the Treasurer presented the financial report, (attached.) Both reports were accepted by vote of the membership. (mot. B. Thoresen/ 2nd M. Slater & mot. G. Martin/2nd M. Gibson)

Island Business

1. The "Hat Project" was discussed and completed with members present agreeing it was a success. A motion was made, seconded and passed to have the SIA cover the $60 cost of the logo design used on the hats. (mot. B. Tellinghuisen/2nd M. Peabody).
2. Linda Zimmerman presented the report of the Septic Advisory Committee (attached) concerning action taken by the committee members to elect a spokesperson. This chairperson of the SAC would then act as a member of the SIA Board of Directors in order to fill the vacated 2nd Vice President spot on the SIA BOD. (We're really starting to look very important with all these initials. Next we'll need uniforms and sealed orders…..nah, that's too much.) The report was accepted by vote of the membership. (mot. F. 3. The election of officers followed with a motion to accept the following: Nadine Martin agreed to serve as Treasurer for another 2 year term, and Mark Derderian assumed the office of President, while Tom Barrett moved up to Vice President. (mot. P. Vincent/2nd B. Thoresen).
4. A motion was made to again give a $50 Gift Certificate to Gary Martin, Paul Gibson and Nadine Martin by way of saying thanks for their clean-up efforts on the trail this spring. The membership really appreciates their work. (mot. M. Derderian/2nd L. Zimmerman).

Fall Meeting
The Fall (?) meeting was set for August 25th, at 4:00pm, to be hosted by Barbara and Jack Tellinghuisen, lot #6, 116 Sleepers Island, the usual wine and cheese social.

Adjournment
