MINUTES SLEEPERS ISLAND ASSOCIATION FALL 2009

Call to Order

The meeting was called to order by the new president Tom Barrett at 4:45:03pm at Stately Zimmerman House on rain swept Sleepers Island. The on going, world class cocktail hour having been interrupted to conduct some business, Tom welcomed the hardy souls who braved the weather to come out.

 Those present were Gary Martin, David and Marlene Mitcheson, Dave and Mary Englehardt, Jeff Ritchie and Mia Frabotta, Marc Gibson, Paul Gibson, Frank and Babs Glauner, Tom and Jean Barrett, Ted and Stephanie Carl, Fred and Linda Zimmerman and Mike and Donna Miller 

Secretary's/Treasurer's Report
The Secretary read the minutes of the Annual Meeting from June 13th, 2009. Immediately following that, Gary Martin read the Treasurer’s report for absent Nadine, after which some questions and comments lead to some discussion in the Island Business area. A motion was made and passed by voice vote to accept the Secretary’s and Treasurer’s reports. (mot. F. Glauner, 2nd M. Gibson.)

Island Business
1.) During the reading and review of the Treasurer’s report, some questions were asked and discussion followed about dues being collected, cost of insurance and taxes, number of members vs. residents on the island, and scope and coverage of the insurance carried by SIA. A motion was made to ask the Treasurer and Secretary to provide a summary of this information for confidential review by the membership at the Annual Meeting in June 2010. (mot. M. Gibson, 2nd F. 2.) Our representative to the Shore Owners Association was not present to report on whether membership paid by SIA was worth while, so such discussion was postponed until the Annual Meeting.
3.) CORRECTION. The minutes of the September 6th, 2008 meeting showed the volunteer to join the Shore Owners Assn. as Donna Miller, but it was in fact Barbara Tellinghuisen.

Spring Meeting
The date of the Annual Meeting was set for June 12th, 2010, to be hosted by the Carl’s
(316 Sleepers Island,) at the customary 4:00pm cocktail hour.

Adjournment
The meeting adjourned at 5:12:51pm and members happily returned to the social gathering. (mot. S. Carl, 2nd F.Glauner.)
