MINUTES SLEEPERS ISLAND ASSOCIATION FALL MEETING SATURDAY, Sept. 6, 2008

Call to Order
The meeting was called to order by Mark Derderian at 4:53:22pm, with threatening weather and a change of venue, (his own house,) for what promised to be a much abbreviated meeting. The original meeting site having been suddenly abandoned due to an in-coming hurricane in Florida, (the Tellinghuisens having raced south to fight the ravages of nature,) members quickly adapted to the new location.

Attendees
Those in attendance were: Mark Derderian, Scott Mercer, Steve Benson, Karen Kean, Marc Gibson, Paul Gibson, Tom and Jean Barrett, Dave and Mary Englehardt, Fred and Linda Zimmerman, Dave and Donna Miller, Bill Mueller and Bill Peabody.

Secretary's/Treasurer's Report
The minutes of the last meeting were read by the Secretary and a motion made and passed to accept. (m. B. Peabody/ 2nd J. Barrett) The Treasurer’s Report, (attached) was presented by the Secretary for the absent Nadine Martin, (the weather was driving a lot of people off the island this day,) and a motion made and passed to accept this report. Island Business
The only item discussed was the Shore Owner Association, and weather or not SIA should join or just one member. A motion was made to have one volunteer, (Donna Miller,) be the point of contact of the SIA, to evaluate membership for one year. They would have the charge of reporting to the SIA membership items of interest to shore property owners arising from this group. The cost of the membership ($100) would be paid by the SIA. A lively and informative discussion followed after which the motion was passed unanimously. (m. M. Gibson/ 2nd F. Zimmerman)
By this time the rain started in a serious way, and those who hiked in to the meeting, and those who boated in, decided any other topic could wait until next year and we ran for our lives. Legend has it that some of those who decide to wait until the rain let up were there until after 10 o’clock that night, and some may be there to this day. We may never know.

Spring Meeting
As we were running off the dock, those remaining placed the Spring Meeting for Saturday, June 13th, 2009 at the Tellinghuisen home, 116 Sleepers Island. The usual 4:00 pm wine and cheese social shall of course be observed.

Adjournment
